ERLANDS STUDIO OFFERINGCREATIVE DIRECTION, IDENTITY AND DESIGN CONNECTING VISION AND EXECUTION THROUGH A ADAPTABLE PARTNERSHIP, BRINGING TOGETHER THE RIGHT EXPERTISE AS THE PROJECT EVOLVES.
CHALLENGEMany projects bring valuable expertise from involved designers, agencies, consultants, and suppliers, but often working independently. This can result in disconnected decisions, fragmented communication, and a lack of a unified creative direction.
APPROACHBridge these gaps by connecting all relevant disciplines to understand their vision, processes, challenges, and opportunities. By identifying what is essential and aligning every element around a clear direction, we create a stronger foundation for design development.
OUTCOMEReceive the overarching creative framework, aligning vision, products, packaging, brand communication, interior architecture, and implementation into one cohesive direction. By connecting the right disciplines at the right time, every decision contributes to a unified and purposeful outcome.
MONTHLY SERVICESSERVICE SELECTIONEach service provides 10 working hours, billed at €1500. Clients can combine 1 to 4 retainers per month depending on their project scope, and priorities and studio’s availability. Following an initial project review, you will receive a quotation outlining recommended services and project reservation timeline.
PLANNING & AVAILABILITYStudio time is reserved exclusively for your project during the active service period. Because availability is limited, we recommend confirming services in advance to secure your preferred booking period.
PROJECT WORKSPACEProject quotation and information will be provided through a dedicated client workspace, accessible via a private link. That workspace centralizes documents, files, timelines, and monthly updates, making communication organised. This is how clients reserve services and follow the progress of their project.

When a project evolves into single product into a larger collection or a broader line, we step into a deeper collaboration.
At this stage, we define a shared creative vision across the collection, ensuring each piece stands on its own while forming a cohesive whole.
As part of this expanded collaboration, ERLANDS STUDIO must be credited on every product and collection developed.
This ensures the integrity and ownership of the design remains with us, while giving the project a clear, trusted creative foundation. -
The client is responsible for providing all necessary information, feedback, assets, approvals, and decision-makers within agreed timeframes. Delays in providing materials or approvals may affect project timelines and delivery.

All concepts, sketches, strategies, presentations, designs and materials remain the intellectual property of ERLANDS STUDIO ©, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Preliminary concepts, unused proposals, working files, methodologies, internal processes, as well as the final designs and deliverables, remain the property of ERLANDS STUDIO © unless explicitly transferred under a separate agreement.
Design Rights & OwnershipERLANDS STUDIO creates original design solutions across products, packaging, and brand identities. Each project contains different types of creative assets with different ownership structures. The following principles define how design rights, usage permissions, and ownership are handled unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Product Design Rights & Ownership
Product designs, furniture, objects, sculptural forms, structural concepts, and functional innovations created by ERLANDS STUDIO remain the intellectual property of ERLANDS STUDIO unless ownership transfer is specifically agreed in writing.
Upon completion and payment of the agreed design service, the client receives the right to use the approved design for the agreed purpose, product category, market, and production scope.
Any additional manufacturing, reproduction, adaptation, licensing, or commercial use beyond the agreed scope requires a separate licensing agreement.
This applies especially to original product concepts, unique forms, systems, inventions, and design elements that may have independent commercial value beyond the original project.
Brand Identity Rights & Ownership
Upon full payment, ownership of the final approved brand identity assets transfers to the client, including agreed logo designs, visual identity elements, and brand communication materials created specifically for the project.
ERLANDS STUDIO retains ownership of:
preliminary concepts and unused proposals
creative methodologies and processes
strategic frameworks
design approaches and internal tools developed during the project
Any original artistic works, objects, symbols, forms, or design elements created beyond the scope of the brand identity itself may remain subject to separate design rights and licensing terms.
Packaging Design Rights & Ownership
Packaging design rights depend on the nature of the created work.
For standard packaging graphics, layouts, visual systems, and communication elements, the client receives ownership or usage rights for the approved packaging design upon completion and payment.
For original structural packaging concepts, functional innovations, unique forms, mechanisms, or reusable packaging systems, ERLANDS STUDIO retains the underlying intellectual property unless otherwise agreed.
The client receives the right to use the approved packaging solution for the agreed product and application. Any reuse, adaptation, licensing, or application of the innovation for other products, brands, or markets requires separate written approval.
General Principle
ERLANDS STUDIO separates the delivery of a design outcome from the ownership of the creative knowledge, systems, and original innovations behind it.
Clients receive the rights necessary to successfully develop and commercialise their project, while ERLANDS STUDIO preserves authorship and ownership of original design contributions that may have value beyond a single application.
-
Original designs developed by ERLANDS STUDIO are licensed rather than sold. This ensures that the creative vision and intellectual property remain protected while providing clients with clearly defined commercial production rights.
For products entering manufacturing or long-term commercial distribution, a separate licensing agreement is established. Depending on the project, this may include licensing fees, royalties based on sales, exclusivity terms, production limits, or territory-specific rights.
Licensing allows both parties to build long-term value while protecting the integrity and originality of the design.
-
When a product, collection, furniture piece, lighting object, or other commercial design created by ERLANDS STUDIO enters production, the design remains the intellectual property of the studio unless intellectual property rights are explicitly transferred through a separate written agreement.
Commercial production is authorized through a Design License, defining the scope of use, production rights, territory, duration, exclusivity, and financial terms.
Depending on the project, licensing may include:
One-time licensing fee
Royalty-based compensation (percentage per unit sold)
Fixed annual licensing agreement
Exclusive or non-exclusive licensing
Territory-specific licensing rights
Each licensing agreement is individually negotiated according to the commercial value, production volume, and long-term business objectives of the project.
-
ERLANDS STUDIO develops original product depending on the project while preserving its IP. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all intellectual property rights in original product designs, structural concepts, functional innovations, and sculptural forms remains with ERLANDS STUDIO.
Clients may receive a license to manufacture and sell the product, or an assignment of ownership if specifically agreed in writing.
Each licensing agreement is tailored to the commercial nature of the project and may include royalties, upfront licensing fees, production limits, exclusivity, minimum annual guarantees or a combination.
For typical licensing models, the royalty range depends on the product category and commercial scale.
Mass-market products like consumer goods royalties are typically 2 to 5 percent of net sales.
Specialist products the range is 5 to 7 percent, or an upfront fee plus a reduced royalty.
Premium design products like designer furniture, lighting, or limited collections, royalties are typically5 to 10 percent, or an upfront fee with a reduced royalty.
And for collectible design or sculptural works, it’s license by edition size or production period instead of a percentage.
If a client agrees to an upfront licensing fee, the ongoing royalty percentage may be reduced, with the exact balance set per project.
More upfront investment means lower ongoing royalties, creating a balanced and transparent partnership. -
ERLANDS STUDIO © offer reference the client's name, brand, product, or project as part of its portfolio, website, presentations, social media, awards, lectures, and other professional communications.
-
Documentation and publication of the design process and completed work are a fundamental part of ERLANDS STUDIO © practice. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, ERLANDS STUDIO © reserves the right to photograph, film, document, and reference the client, project, products, spaces, packaging, and completed work across its website, portfolio, social media, publications, exhibitions, lectures, awards, and other promotional or educational materials.
If any aspect of the project must remain confidential prior to public release, the client must communicate this in writing before the project begins, specifying the scope of the confidentiality and the date on which it expires. Until that date, ERLANDS STUDIO © will respect the agreed confidentiality. In the absence of such written notice, documentation and publication rights are considered part of the standard agreement.
-
How ideas are developed and protected.
-
All prototypes, samples, experiments, and developmental outputs created during the process or under the supervision of ERLANDS STUDIO remain the intellectual and physical property of ERLANDS STUDIO unless otherwise agreed in writing. These materials may be retained, documented, and used as part of the studio’s research, development, and portfolio practice.
-
During the course of a project, ERLANDS STUDIO may share preliminary concepts, sketches, visualisations, prototypes, presentations, and other work-in-progress materials for discussion and internal client review only.
These materials are confidential and remain the intellectual property of ERLANDS STUDIO until the relevant project stage has been completed and formally approved. They may not be shared with third parties, redistributed, adapted, implemented, or used for further development without the prior written consent of ERLANDS STUDIO.
Preliminary concepts are intended solely to support the collaborative design process and do not represent final design solutions or production-ready deliverables.
Full or partial disclosure, reproduction, distribution, or use of any work-in-progress materials or their content in any form is prohibited without the prior written permission of ERLANDS STUDIO.
-
ERLANDS STUDIO © may use digital tools, including AI-assisted technologies, as part of the creative process where appropriate. All concepts, strategic thinking, creative direction, and final deliverables remain original work developed specifically for the client.
-
How projects are paused, cancelled or restarted.
-
Once the design phase is completed, the project is expected to proceed to the next stage within 30 days. If no further instruction or approval is received during this period, the project will be placed on hold.
When you are ready to resume the project, a Project Restart Fee will apply to cover project review, reactivation, schedule coordination, and re-familiarization with the design before work continues.
The restart fee will be determined based on the scope and duration of the pause.
If a project remains on hold for more than 30 days, a monthly Project Hold Fee will apply until the project resumes or is formally closed.
Project Hold Fee
1st month – No charge
2nd month – €150/week
3rd month – €100/week
4th month €50/week
5th month €25/week
Beyond 150 days Project is closed and a restart proposal is required
Projects placed on hold for more than 30 days require a restart review before work resumes. The restart fee is charged based on the time required to review, update, and reactivate the project and is billed at the studio's standard rate of €150/hour.Typical restart fee:
Short pause (1–3 months): 2–4 hours
Medium pause (3–5 months): 4–8 hours
Long pause (5+ months): Quoted individually
-
Our studio accepts a limited number of projects each year with the intention of supporting them through to completion. If a project is discontinued after the design phase and does not proceed to development or implementation, a Project Discontinuation Fee may apply.
This fee compensates for reserved studio capacity, long-term project planning, and the commitment of resources that were allocated with the expectation of completing the project.
Project Discontinuation Fee = 10% of the remaining agreed service value
-
Either party may terminate or suspend the collaboration with written notice. Payments made for completed or ongoing work are non-refundable.
If a project is paused for more than 5 days, ERLANDS STUDIO © reserves the right to reschedule the remaining work based on current availability.
-
