Janus’ Convergence Gate
Conscious Object Series
Janus’ Convergence Gate is a visual exploration of the intricate intersections of thought and transformation. While the first piece in the series, “Janus’ First Gate,” represents a simple, singular threshold, this painting embodies a more complex journey. Here, multiple pathways come together in a rich, interwoven network, symbolizing the convergence of multiple states of mind or layers of meditation.
In Roman mythology, Janus is the guardian of transitions and dualities, and this piece captures that essence. The “Convergence Gate” is a symbolic doorway where different pathways of thought meet and merge, creating a dynamic intersection of ideas and perspectives. It represents that moment in the meditative journey where the mind encounters a more intricate, multi-layered state of awareness, guided by the dual-faced god who sees both where we begin and where we are going.
Paintings of the inanimate glass tools, capturing their silent weight,
presence, and potential as meditative instruments.
The interaction between the body and the objects was captured emotionally through paintings created by ERLANDS. This creative process was guided purely by instinct. The paintings emerged from meditative movement with the glass peaces, and expressing the essence of the interaction without fear or expectation.
These paintings were kept hidden throughout the creation of the EB WeightLight sculptural art peaces, never influencing the design process. However, when they were exhibited alongside the objects at the 8 days of lightness exhibition. The harmony between them was clear. It was as if the shapes and forms had materialized organically, without conscious reflection, purely through trust and intuition.
