Conscious Object Series

Janus’ First Gate is a depiction of the initial, simpler threshold in the journey of meditation and mental transformation. In this piece, two orbs are connected by a single pathway, representing the straightforward crossing from one state of mind to another. This painting symbolizes that first step through a doorway of introspection, where the path is clear and the focus is on the singular connection between two points.

Drawing on the imagery of Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions, “Janus’ First Gate” captures the essence of that initial crossing point. It’s the moment of stepping into a new realm of awareness, where Janus looks both forward and back, guiding the traveler through the first gateway of inner exploration.

Paintings of the inanimate glass tools, capturing their silent weight,
presence, and potential as meditative instruments.

The interaction between the body and the objects was captured emotionally through paintings created by ERLANDS. This creative process was guided purely by instinct. The paintings emerged from meditative movement with the glass peaces, and expressing the essence of the interaction without fear or expectation.

These paintings were kept hidden throughout the creation of the EB WeightLight sculptural art peaces, never influencing the design process. However, when they were exhibited alongside the objects at the 8 days of lightness exhibition. The harmony between them was clear. It was as if the shapes and forms had materialized organically, without conscious reflection, purely through trust and intuition.
